Now you would think that officials, especially from the United States, would descend on Northern Ireland to find out why that rate is so high. And the thousands on waiting lists, mean that the rate is probably even higher.

I am an American, but my family also came from Northern Ireland.
While on the one hand there is an urgent need to find the root cause of Autism and also to determine the remedies, on the other hand there is a strong need for their settlement to ensure that they are well taken care of throughout their lifespans as their parents and relatives will no longer be there with them to support their livelihood.

As someone from Northern Ireland with a grandson who is autistic I would like to ask that too.
A former friend of mine from college often says, "Vaccinate your children!"
Meanwhile, her son has special needs. I wonder if it ever occurred to her that he might not have been born that way.
We are not taught to think like that. We never question why these kids are so disabled. It’s a sad reality.

Why no government or NGO is coming forward to address the most pressing issue of present and even more pronounced in the near future
